I've been a programmer many years and would like to get into game programming on the side just for fun. May I ask what you program in to make this? I've been looking at c++ opengles in visual studio as well as unity. But I'm really interested in what people use.

Hi, Snake20
Sorry for the late answer. My PC has been broken last week :-(

I use C# and MonoGame. I have chosen Visual Studio C# because I professionally work with C#. For professional game developing maybe C++ would be the better choice. But for a Indi-Developer C# might be faster and easier.

I started developing with Microsoft XNA Game Studio, but since it's dead, I switched to MonoGame. I like it very much.

Maybe for my next game I would try Unity.

Thank you for the reply, I will check out monogame since I also use c# at work occasionally! Work wants me to learn unity for a project so I might just go with that to help to learn how to use it.

programming Empty Platforms

Post by Keetongu74 Sun Feb 21, 2016 2:56 am

What are the range of platforms can you do this for.
A Windows 7 version would be awesome.
Maybe an iPad or Android.
If you feel really ambitions Wii U.
I just wonder what your capable of compiling or producing.
I personally have a windows 7 and have been playing on my windows8 tablet. Would love to see a windows 7 version.

I use C# and MonoGame. I guess it would run on Windows7, Android and OsX, but I need licenses of Xamarin and these are not cheap (999$ I guess). I also used some Windows8/10 features, that I would have to change. So it's not just compiling for an other platform.

I really would like to compile it for Android, but I don't find the motivation. Programming new features, record new music and draw some things is much more fun. :-)
